How to travel to Kos?

Shopping in Kos

The most of the shopping malls and the stores are located in the harbor area.  Kos Island successfully manages to combine a heritage of traditional products along with the modern and trendy products. Kos has remarkable  centres offering a good selection of souvenir (especially on Old Town streets and places near to Asklepion).

You can find all kinds of shops in Kos, especially in the town; clothes shops, jewellery shops, mini markets and bakeries. A popular place to visit is the public market which is just before the entrance to the archaelogical site at the Eleftherias Square.  There you can find local herbs, spices as well as other local products.

The most famous products of the island are cheese made from wine, ouzo and house wine. In the villages, hand made products and local outfits are very popular at the stores. Also, there are numereous souvenir shops in the village of Zia.

Shops are open on  Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 09:00 until 13:30, then close for a siesta.

They re-open from 17:00 until 21:00.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays the shops in Kos open from 09:00 until 14:00 and do not   re-open after the siesta.

Most shops are closed on Sundays.

However, the opening hours are at the discretion of the owner.  In high season, you can find many shops open from 09:00 until 23:00.
